It is once again that time of year when teams start picking up new drivers, dropping the old, and everything in between. Several major announcements have already been made with superstars such as Ryan Lutz and Elliott Harper leaving Team Durango, David Ronnefalk leaving Kyosho, and rumors of several more continue to stir. So the question is, what is true and what is simply internet gossip? In this edition of ‘Word of Wheels’ we highlight just a few of the hottest driver and company rumors, and speculate whether or not they could be true for 2015.

HB is very pleased to announce that Andy Moore has signed with HB for yet another 2 years, to the end of 2016. Andy is one of the longest-serving members of Team HB. Moore has been a core member of the onroad racing team since he first joined Team HB and showed his commitment to racing excellence when he gained the ultimate accolade, winning the IFMAR ISTC World Championship in 2006. The Australian Onroad Nationals were held this past weekend at the ACT track down under. Rainy weather cut qualifying short, and delayed the following day finals. A combination of the conditions, track, and competition in attendance made for some very close racing in all classes. In the Modified TC class it would be Simon Nicholson who captured the win. XRAY’s Ari Bakla and Corey Broadstock followed Nicholson across the line to complete the Mod TC podium in second and third.
Round 1 of the non-profit Western Canadian Indoor Championship Series was held in the capital city of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The SARCAR RC Club hosted a great event, with 8 WCICS classes, including the debut of F1, and as the first round of the season, the championship points are wide open. In the Great Hobbies sponsored Touring Car Stock class Ryan Rice & his XRAY took the early TQ, later bettered by XRAY’s Danny Buck. In the main, Danny and Wayne Mah battled it out, with Wayne eventually coming out on the top spot of the podium, Danny second, Ryan third. Since its World Championship winning debut, racers have been anxious to see more (and get their hands on) the new Pro-Line Racing ‘Fuel Stick’. Our friends at Pro-Line have informed us that the highly anticipated Fuel Stick is nearing completion, and it won’t be long before the stick will be re-fueling at local tracks around the globe.
