miniPRO have introduced a slot car version of their dyno. The inertia dynamometer (dyno) measures the rpm, kv, voltage, current draw, power and torque output of a slot car. The dyno is great tool for motor analysis, gearing calculation, etc. The dyno is coupled at the tires of the slot car to accelerate the inertial mass, called ‘flywheel’ for simplicity. The miniPRO electronic board takes the flywheel’s inertia (resistance of an object to a change in its state of motion), measures the rate it takes to accelerate and calculates the output power and torque of your motor. The dyno repeatedly measures and calculates power in small increments to produce an accurate graph on a PC of the engine’s power characteristics.

The dyno its completely aluminum. It uses a high quality 6061 aluminum frame cover around the flywheel to protect from high rpm motors. Yet we still offer the ability to see the flywheel spinning action by adding a clear window screen.
Flywheel (variable load):
The dyno uses the engine to simply accelerate a flywheel (variable load). We calculate the power and torque of the motor by knowing the flywheels inertia (resistance of an object to a change in its state of motion) and its acceleration. We offer different sizes and materials to best suit your application. Additional flywheels can be purchased separately.
The Foam pad around the holder of the car reduces vibration during testing. Optional screw holes are available in case you want to securely fasten the dyno into baseboard. Three optional screws are included in the kit.
The slot dyno can easily change the size of the track and allows you to change tire size of the tire holders for 1/24 and 1/32 slot cars.
The dyno uses a custom PCB with a build Optical RPM sensor, delivering low noise and accurate readings. It features a built-in micro USB for connection to your PC. It includes one external LCD port, one external throttle controller port, one current and voltage sensor port, and two temperature sensor ports.
A full set of 4 high-speed, blue-sealed and ceramic ball-bearings are used throughout the flywheel, and tail stock. All of the bearings are degreased and oiled with Aero Shell® Fluid 12 for maximum smoothness and long life. The bearings used in the tail stock have been specially selected to reduce lateral loads and maximize the slot car drivetrain efficiency.
Precise test results:
Precise, otherwise known as “Repeatability” is what you want in a dyno, that means test the same electric motor time after time and get the same results. Our dyno is capable of repeatable test results using the Throttle Controller Board (Sold Separately).
