Last weekend started the season eighth of Jamrock RC Car Club’s Island Nitro Series (INS). The nitro race was held in the 1/10 Touring and 1/8 GT classes with two rounds of qualifying and 30 minutes mains. The rain came at the end of the first qualifying heat but was not enough to have the race cancelled. After the rain, the event went on as scheduled with the second qualifying heat and the mains. Denise Burton-Clarke who was inexperienced last season started out this season with a win. She was able to hold off her closest rivals, Lascelles Ellis 2nd and also the Top Qualifier and Raffique Golaub in 3rd position.
The GT Class was snatched away by Douglas Grey after new comer Golaub to the GT class walked away as the TQ. Grey went into the event this weekend, indicating that he will not be sparing anyone and will walk away as the GT King. Grey dominated the GT field walking away with the top position. He finished ahead of Andre Blaine in 2nd position and Raffique Golaub in 3rd position.
Five rounds will be held where the best four results will be used to determine the series championship.
