The BRCA 1/8 on-road Nationals arrived at the Brooklands Circuit last weekend. This was the first time in 4 years the series visited the super-fast and challenging track located in the deep south of the UK. The club worked hard to resurface part of the track and improve the facilities to attract the nationals back, and overall it was well received. Saturday practice saw most Serpent drivers getting to grips with the track. Some were using the new Aero bumper which proved to be working well. Rich Hicklin, John Carr and Tim Wood were all circulating at the sharp end.
Sunday saw a superb TQ for Tim Wood driving his XRD Powered 977 Evo2 on Contact RC tyres. Rich Hicklin booked himself in the A main with some very quick laptimes and John Carr also booked his place, amidst tough competition as always. Tim had an early battle with Neil King, but soon pulled clear. Rich was in the mix but hit issues early on after showing great promise. John Carr was also circulating very well. After a tough 30 mins on the super high speed track, Tim sealed the win from John in 2nd.
Next Race is the Cotswold GP at the End of August.
