The 4th round of the Swiss Championship took place in Langenthal. Already on Friday the drivers took the chance to test engines and bodies. Unfortunately it was drizzling on Saturday from time to time but it was never really wet and the qualifying races could be held under good conditions. In the 1/8 class once again Simon Kurzbuch stamped his authority on his home course. He shocked his rivals with lap times under 12 seconds and was the only one to do 25 laps in qualifying taking the pole-position for the final. The super pole went clearly to Silvio Hächler in front of Thomas Henzi and Michael Henzi.
The weather forecast for Sunday promised was not looking good and indeed it was raining just before noon. Luckily the track dried of quickly and the semi-finals were raced under dry conditions. Shepherd racer Jürg Nydegger crossed the finishing line in 4th position and was happy to join Simon in the main final.
The two fathers Christian Kurzbuch and Andrea Hächler once again fought their own “prestige duel” in the B-final. Christian may have benefited from the home field advantage and won very close in front of Tobias Kerler and Christopher Biernat while Andrea had to give up the race just before the end. At the start of 1/8 class A final Simon let his driving ability flash and immediately pulled away from the field. Just before the half of the race was done a mechanical failure dropped Simon down the order with a gap of 1 ½ laps on the leader. But Simon didn’t give up and the crowd at the track saw rc racing on the highest level for the closing stage of the race. He clocked one top lap after the other and also his pit crew did an outstanding job when refueling and during the second tyre change. After 45min he crossed the finishing line with an impressive lead of 3 laps over his club colleague Michael Henzi with Christophe Pethoud completing the podium.
