The opening round of the Spanish Nats was held at the ARCA track in Madrid. Due to the saturday’s rain, qualifying rounds were moved to sunday morning. Mugen’s Sergi Franch took the TQ with a flawless driving in Q3 setting the fastest time in front of local drivers Adrian Ortiz and Victor Pelaez. After the qualifying it started to rain and Victor Pelaez took the 2nd spot on the grid winning the Superpole.
Just before the start of the main final the rain stopped and the track was drying very quickly. Mugen drivers Sergi Franch and Johnny Pastor made a setup for wet conditions putting off the anti roll bars while the other drivers made a setup for dry conditions. Despite they had not the best settings, Sergi opened a gap of 3 seconds to Victor and Juan Hidalgo that was increased at the middle of the race. In a refueling Juan hidalgo had a flame out and in the attempt to come back at the head of race he had an accident breaking his car leaving Adrian Ortiz to conquer the third position of the race. In the final stretch Victor Pelaez tried to catch Sergi Franch who was managing the advantage obtained until the end of the race with a very solid driving Finally, Sergi claimed a hard win in front of Victor Pelaez in second and Adrian Ortiz in third.
