PROTOform WCICS Rd 6 report


The PROTOform Western Canadian Championship Series made its way to Saskatchewan February 3-5th for round 6 of the series, hosted by the always friendly Regina Fastraxx club.

Blinds Plus Tamiya Mini was a close battle throughout Saturday qualifying, with Daryl Siba taking TQ in the final round. Sunday however though saw Shane win round one and two giving him his first place victory at his first WCICS race! Daryl and Chris Jackman battled in the third round giving Daryl second and Chris third place.

CRC 12th scale Stock saw Jason Lochthowe from North Dakota take TQ and dominate the races! The exciting battle was between Ryan Rice from Saskatoon and Jim Chapman from Aridre Alberta. Jim and Ryan were switching positions back and forth through the weekend. In the finals Ryan held off Jim and took second place with Jim in 3rd position.

Team Great Hobbies Touring Stock saw Team XRay’s Danny Buck TQ and win. Danny was strong from the start and was the front runner of this class for the whole weekend. Lance Radke gave Ryan Rice a good battle on the track with lance ending up in 2nd with his Awesomatix and Ryan in 3rd with his X-ray. Great racing in this class was exciting to watch!

Reedy 12th Scale Mod saw American Jason Lochthowe from North Dakota dominate again. Lloyd Lochthowe also from North Dakota and Kyle Brown from Saskatoon had to battle it out for the remaining positions! Kyle had been working on his car the whole weekend and eventually found the right combination in set up to get past a very strong Lloyd Lochthowe. Kyle ended up second with Lloyd in third place. A great battle!

ATD Hobbies WCICS Scale Spec saw Gary Lanzer have a strong fast car all weekend. Gary easily took TQ and the win in this class. Dennis Beck was always on the hunt to catch Gary but Gary was just flawless. There was switching of positions between Dennis and Cam Spence through part of the weekend. All three Drivers are from the Saskatoon SARCAR club. Dennis was able to take 2nd place and hold Cam off for third. Great driving and competitiveness in this class!

RC America/XRay Touring Mod saw Team XRay’s Danny Buck very strong and took the TQ and win in this group. Fellow XRay driver Ryan Rice and Jim Chapman were switching positions, but Ryan’s XRay was there at the end to take 2nd place and hold off Jim. Jim took third and that rounded out our race weekend.
