Last weekend was held the 5th round of the Serpent GT Cup series. After the previous 4 races, drivers are now more used to the equipment and due to the nature of the control class race, lap times are getting closer and closer within different drivers, and the competition level are fierce to say the least.
On the ever growing Cobra GT Modify class, we had a new TQ for this round. Hui China Ho was able to secure his TQ position in front of the series points leader Nelson Woo. With the fastest lap time only 0.1s apart, Hui managed to hold off a strong charge from Nelson and eventually winning the 40 minutes A main. Nelson Woo had to settle for second. Qualifying sixth on the grid, veteran Quai Lo manage to take the last step on the podium and finished 3rd.
The Cobra GT Ready To Race class once again attract the most drivers and Nelson Woo manage to grab the TQ position for this popular class. However Nelson’s final was not going his way as he suffered multi flame outs and managed 5th place. 3rd place qualifier Philip Leung managed to pull out from the field and eventually taking the win by a one lap margin. Previous race winner Siu Ming overcome a poor qualify of his standard and finish a hard fought 2rd place. Qualify 9th on the grid, Leung Chi Fung drive a safe and control race and finish on his personnel best for the series by taken the 3rd place.
One more round will be run before the season finale at 3 and 4 December in Hongkong, which will be run at the same time as the Serpent Asia Cup.
