Maximus Turf

Maximus, located in York, Maine, recently underwent a major renovation to convert their raceway to a high traction turf surface. This is the first Indoor RC Turf Raceway in New England. The track has been open for racing for just over a week now. Maximus removed it’s previous clay racing surface to create a more family friendly environment.

The turf is a low profile style that provides a lot of grip. Yellow compound Schumacher Mini Pins, Cut Stagger or Losi Eclipes SC tires only are the only tires allowed on the track. In order to promote a fair, clean, an healthy family environment as well as protect the turf surface, tire compound and pretreating of tires has been banned.

Race classes are typical including two wheel and four wheel drive tenth scale buggys and short course trucks. Maximus is also introducing a Spec racing class. The class will consist of the popular Losi XXX platform, featuring the SCT and SCB. Participants in Spec class are required to keep the trucks box stock. Maximus hopes this class will help grow the hobby in the surrounding region by providing a level playing field for racing new comers.

The track is currently setup for off road racing however all of the jumps are easily movable to facilitate other racing types. The jumps are made of plywood and were precision CNC’d for uniformity.

Maximus holds races Saturday and Wednesday nights. Anyone looking for more information can check out their website maximushobbyshop.com.
