Team Associated’s Kyle McBride made the trip to the western coast of Australia to compete in the Australian 1/8 Fuel Offroad National Championship. As one of the newest members of Team Associated, McBride was both anxious and excited to get his RC8 prototype buggy and RC8T Factory Team Truggy on the track for one of the most significant 1/8 offroad races of the year.
As qualifying got underway, it was clear that McBride had the pace to compete for the titles. Comfortable from the first lap, the 18-year-old drove with the experience of a top veteran and put himself in great positions for the main events.
First up was the Truggy main where McBride jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. Lapping the field twice, his RC8T Factory Team CE was on rails.
In the Buggy class the results were similar, with McBride putting three laps on the competition when driving his RC8 prototype vehicle. This marked the first Australian 1/8 National Championship for Team Associated, and Kyle’s fifth buggy championship in a row.
