Following the huge success of the inaugural event last year, the team behind the Essex Winter Series, the UK’s most popular on-road championship and the recent Essex Summer Series are pleased to announce that their major indoor event, the International Carpet Challenge, will again take place in 2015. The event, which attracted drivers from seven different countries last year, will take place over the weekend of the 20th to 22nd February 2015, at the EWS indoor venue in the South-East of the UK. Last year, drivers from Northern and Southern Ireland, Poland, Belgium, Germany and France took on the best Touring Car drivers from around England on one of the world’s largest carpet tracks. That event saw the UK’s Kyle Branson narrowly beating multi-time ETS A Finalists Freddy Sudhoff and Yannic Prumper to lift the title. Many of last years’ international entries and top UK drivers have already confirmed they will attend again, along with others from across Europe. This year’s ICC is set to be possibly the biggest on-road carpet event the UK has seen for a decade. The classes for the event will be:
- Open Modified – any motor from the BRCA, EFRA or IFMAR list, with any speed controller
- Super Stock – 13.5 turn motor from the BRCA approved list, with any Zero Timing/’blinky’ speed controller
- HPI Vintage Challenge – any TC chassis with 17.5 turn motors, Zero Timing speed controllers and HPI Vintage style bodyshell
Tires for the event will be the same as used at ETS and EWS Carpet events – the Ride REX30 (Part # 26032) for the Modified and Super Stock classes, and hand-out HPI Vintage wheels and tires for the HPI Challenge class. Entry will again be through a lottery process, with entries now open. Entries will close on 24th October. Full rules, venue and hotel details, along with entry procedures, are available on the website HERE. If you have any queries, or for international drivers who need help with travel or accommodation plans, you can ask on the EWS Events Facebook Page, or email Oli Meggitt at firstname.lastname@example.org.
