Last weekend saw the last round of the Herts Nitro Model Car Club’s summer series. Joey ‘c-cup’ Cockill reports… A very cold start to the morning greeted the drivers as they were arriving, all hoping the bad weather would stay behind the clouds. This was not to be, the heavens decided to open up causing a stir throughout the pits. Fortunately, as quickly as it came, the rain subsided and play resumed. Qualifying was been reduced from 4 to 3 rounds as more rain was expected later on in the afternoon.
Qualifying was tough going for some, as the track, although appearing easy to the naked eye, really bit back at the drivers who did not fully respect it, causing a few breakages and DNF’s. The main final was lead off by Kevin Brunsden of Model Cars Reading followed by Janos Nagy in 2nd. It was a good day for two CML drivers both making the main final. Young CML Boot Camp Driver, Jamie Clancy, had popped himself in a solid 8th place on the start line. CML team driver, Joe Cockill, had managed to bump up two finals to place himself 11th on the grid.
