With the great British weather surprising us all and being hot and dry the weekend was always going to be a quiet one with all the clubs, over 15 nitro clubs choosing to run meetings on the same day but again Storm Valley went with what the driver’s wanted and ran the meeting. It was a nice hot sunny day and what do us Brits do, moan about the heat so they sit under shelter to pit and race in a nice cool warehouse, so maybe racing undercover on a hot sunny day isn’t really that bad after all. Format for the day was 2, 5 min rounds of practice, 4, 5 min rounds of qualifying and 22 minute finals for all, so again more track time and more value for your money.
In practice in the Pro Buggy Mugen Driver Ashlee Owen took both Rd’s and continued to dominate taking all 4 rounds in qualifying and in the Club Buggy under 16 year old Ashley Jones driving a Losi 2.0 took the Practice TQ and TQ in the Club Buggy in qualifying. Finals in the Pro Buggy, Mitchell Booth took the lead on the 1st time round and for the next 5 laps had the Mugen of Ashlee Owen all over his gearbox and a small mistake from Mitchell would let Ashlee past and would see Ashlee hold the lead till the end and with the battle then between Mitchell & Dennis Holding would see the pair change places for the next 43 laps until Mitchell retired and Dennis held 2nd place with a cracking drive from young Associated Driver Ryan Lawrence.
Club Buggy was dominated from start to finish by Ashley Jones, he held his nerve to take his 1st ever A final win and only been racing for 12 months, Alex Page taking 2nd and Duncan Neale 3rd. On behalf of Storm Valley Raceway I would like to thank the drivers for there support and we look forward to Rd 2 Rc-bits Summer Series on 11th August, if you need some practice for Neo Buggy then here is the closest you will get to the surface, booking in is now open on the Storm Valley website.
