EuroRC team driver Petri Mylläri wins his second race of the season and is looking good to wrap up the 1/8th off road season in the third race, which will also be a Nordic championship. This weekend the Finnish national 1/8th off-road series visited the sunny city of Salo in southern Finland. The first race was held in Turku and after Salo there is still two races to go before the national champion is crowned. The morning starts, as usual, with 2 rounds of practice. After that, there is 3 rounds of qualifying and EFRA style finals. Top drivers are looking to finish on top of the qualifiers to be in the semi-finals, and then advance to the final.
Unfortunately a timely shower cancelled the first qualifier, but the sun dried the track quickly and the race could continue. The final saw the following grid: JQ first, followed by Tomi Salonen with Ari Heinonen in third with Petri Mylläri, winner of the first race as fourth. Petri Mylläri started the race by quickly advancing to second place, but made a mistake and had to advance again to second. JQ and Petri switched places for a while driving a very close race. When half of the final was done, Petri managed to slowly leave the others behind. He finished the race first, and JQ 17 seconds behind him. Ari Heinonen was third, 1 lap behind. Continue reading here.
