Last weekend, Intech Driver Nathan Powney attended round 5 of the Ledbury MCC summer series with the day consisting of 5 rounds of qualifying and 22 minute finals.
The track was dry and sunny and at a point scared for abit of rain but nothing broke through so the conditions were very high grip astro with a few sections of grass thrown in for good measure. This round the track was flowing with some nice jump sections which have been used to prepare some of the club drivers for the conditions in france for when they attend St Quentin.
Anyway throughout the meeting it was Nathan Powney who set the overall TQ of the day and lined up for pole position in the A main with his Intech BR5 and Reds R5TT combination.
Nathan has now signed to run REDS engines for the rest of 2012 and through 2013 so a win at the start of the season is a great start. In the final Nathan had a bad start ending up some half a lap down after the first lap, where Shaun Stenson had taken full advantage and was off to a storming start, Shaun lead up until around 7 minutes where he tired with an ill running engine, (seems to have been a fuel tank problem).
From that point Nathan had managed to work his way through the pack and took the lead, but all the time being challenged by Ben Turner and Justin Twigg. The lead changed hands a handful of times but in the end Nathan managed to take back the 1st place and build a lead to take the win but just under a lap ahead of Justin and Ben.
Overall a great meeting and any further info about the club can be found here.
