Our friends at Neo Buggy reports – “The Dirt Nitro Challenge – one of the World’s most popular, most prestigious and biggest nitro offroad events – moving for only the 3rd time DNC #13 takes place at the central Phoenix track Fear Farm RC Raceway. We managed to get in and take a couple of photos of the track before Joey and his Dirt team moved in to remodel it slightly. This year’s setup sees 3 active tracks; one for 1/8th nitro and electric, one for short course and the 3rd one for 1/5th offroad. Naturally most attention will be focused on the premier 1/8th nitro class with a formiddable -sized track, judging by the photos it eclipses former venue The Nitro Pit and dwarfs the original DNC home in Hemet.
On the drivers side, Jared Tebo goes in as double defending Champion, holding both buggy and truck titles, its almost impossible to pick favourites this early on in a season but expect the usual suspects to be in the final. This year’s European team is looking stronger than in previous years – the new XRAY boys Savoya & Bayer impressing with a 2,3 finish in Montpellier, joining up with stateside driver Josh Wheeler XRAY are fielding their strongest lineup for many years. Also making the trip is young Swede David Ronnefalk having spent the last week practicing in SoCal getting ready, JQ will also be there and we expect a few more Euros looking to sneak a place in the US dominated final.”
