“Sunday 16th September saw 109 racers compete in the 4wd class at Coventry Model Car Club at the last BRCA 1/10th Off Road event for 2011 – the F3/4/5 finals. Team driver Ed Kerry, running his Vampire Racing powered Durango buggy dominated proceedings with a very convincing display in both qualifying and the finals. Using the latest Vampire “Type AB+” brushless motor in the 6.5 wind powered by Vampire 60C 5400mah LIPO batteries, Ed took qualifying by storm taking TQ in rounds 2 and 3 to secure overall pole position, setting the only 13 lap run seen all day and one of only a small handful of people who could put in 23 second laps, his being the fastest of them all at just 23.39 secs.
Ed would secure TQ in the end with a time nearly 9 seconds quicker than anyone else could manage all day, a truly great performance. From pole position Ed carried on his great form from qualifying into the finals by taking A final legs 1 and 2 allowing him to sit out the 3rd and final leg with the title already won. Once more Ed was the person to turn in another 13 lap run in the finals (leg 1) and he upped his pace a little more too, to set the fastest lap of the whole meeting with an astonishing 23.06sec lap. Since Ed began running the Vampire products he has been impressed with the raw speed but smooth delivery of the motors and the excellent punch and power delivered by their LIPO batteries. He is very much looking forward to also running the forthcoming SR1 range of brushless speed controllers too when they arrive here in the UK with us shortly.”
