“This glorious Bank Holiday/Royal Wedding weekend saw the start of yet another NRS series and what a weekend to start with (sunburn all round!). Hosted by NNRC, the all astro turf track near Blackpool in the north of England, the north’s top competitors turned up to a double round meeting with rounds 1 and 2 being held on the Sunday and Monday respectively. Sunday saw Richard Taylor (TLR) as the buggy winner, storming around with precision putting in a result of 41 laps in the 30min final, second place went to Bruce Thompson (Hot Bodies) and third going to Stu Mahon (Xray). Phil Welch (Losi) won the truggy A Final followed by Ste Jones (Losi) and then Pete Shaw (Hot Bodies).
Monday saw some new competitors with some not competing after taking part in Round 1 (Sunday). The grid lined up with Bruce Thompson in 1st, Colin Brennan in 2nd and Ryan Donovan 3rd. The final result saw Bruce & Ryan’s final cut short with some bad luck but Colin Brennan mastered his Xray around managing 41 laps and taking the win, Dave Crompton took the 2nd spot using the brand new RB ONE buggy and 3rd went to Junior Jonathan Skidmore (Agama) who put in some great effort in the enduring 30min final. The Truggy A Final went to Phil Welch again with an almost identical result from the previous day, Ste Jones with 2nd place and Martin Greig (Losi) stepping up to 3rd in the Round 2 race. Thanks goes out to all who make the NRS possible and we look forward to the next round at Pendle on May 22nd.”
