Last weekend saw the round 4 of the Northern Regional Series 09 supported by Horizon Hobby & Losi. The venue was NNRC near Blackpool, a full Astro track with a variety of jumps and a wooden section, the track was very fast and sweeping with a couple of technical sections in the mix. Round 1 saw Shaun Gibson set the pace in the Buggies with Round 2 being dominated by David Gibson racing his Losi 8IGHT-E 2.0 with some very smooth driving giving the Nitro boys something to think about. Rounds 3 & 4 were then TQ’d by Stuart Mahon and his Reedy powered Hong Nor putting him in the top spot for the A Final. In the Truggys it was a battle for the top spot from 3 drivers from the NRX club Jimmi Price, Phillip Welch & Damian Clark with Jimmi Price taking the top spot for the final with his Novarossi powered Losi 8IGHT-T 2.0. The weather held out well all day with the sun blazing down on the drivers all the way through the finals.
The Buggy finals started with the E final which was lead by Jimmi Price from start to finish after having a poor qualifying in the buggies. D Final was again won by Jimmi and his Losi closely followed by Carl Sugden & David Liddle both with a Losi 8IGHT. Buggy C final saw a close battle with Stewart Baldridge winning to take the top bump up spot into the B Final. The B Final was a close race between Chris Hampshire and Philip Welch with Chris winning the final by 9 seconds from Philip and then Shaun Reeve 5 seconds behind taking third place.
The Buggy A final was Lead from start to finish by Richard Greenough with his Novarossi powered Hot Boddies D8, 2nd place was taken by Mark Redmond and his Losi 8IGHT 2.0 followed by Colin Brennan in 3rd with his Hong Nor. The Truggy B final was won by young Mitchell Booth and his RC8T closely followed by Andy (Shrek) Beaumont, with John Dingwall taking the third place bump up spot. The Truggy A final was like watching two races with Jimmy Price (Losi 8T 2.0) and Phillip Welch battling out for the top place and Andy Cooke and Karl Lucas fighting a very close race for third both with their Losi Truggys, Jimmi ended up taking 1st followed by Phillip Welch in second and Karl Lucas in Third.
The organisers would like to thank all of the NNRC members who worked hard over to past weeks to get the track in to condition and a special thanks to Kaz for keeping everyone fed over the race weekends.
