“Many drivers in the pro stock formula had come to mainly get practice for the BRCA national in about a months time, nearly all the top 20 drivers from Aldershot where in attendance. After round 1 of qualifying I was 12th and Glenn and Matt where in the top 10. In Mod Elliot had technical problems but Brian put in a good time and was 6th. Round 2 came and only myself and Matt improved our times, Glen was unlucky with ackmarkers which meant he didn’t improve. In Modified Elliot put in a mistake free race and shot straight up the leader board, taking provisional TQ, but there was another round to go. Brian Eldrige also improve with another clean run.
In Round 3 many drivers where on for TQ in pro stock, including myself until a tangle overtaking a backmarker meant I didn’t improve. In the end I qualified 20th which wasn’t to bad as I was qualifying in the bottom heat. Matt put a great drive in, to make sure he would grab a place in the A final, which he just managed by getting 9th place. Glen had it all to do in this round as he was out of the top ten, but with a mistake free drive he was pushing provisional pole, until in the next race Ashley Wiffen took TQ and Jay Westwood improved too, to take 2nd. The top 5 in pro stock where split apart by one second and the top ten where only split by two!
In Mod it was now between Elliot Harper, Chris Kerswell or Chris Grainger to take TQ with Elliot’s time to beat. They were all on for TQ throughout different parts of the race, but Chris Kerswell eventually pulled a slight lead to take it from Chris Grainger and Elliot in third place. Brian improved once again and sat 10th on the grid. Mark Stiles was very unlucky and missed the A by seven hundredths of a second, so close was the racing, putting him on pole for the B final and Andrew Carter in 19th.” Read More… [Source – mirageracing.com]
